Function is central to my work, both with respect to an objects utility and as a source of subject matter.

I am testing the structural limits of hardened leather and developing and refining the means I use to control the material and by doing so extending what I can do with it. The result often renders the leather unrecognizable, not because it has changed in a fundamental way (although its internal structure has in fact been altered), but because the hardened forms created are associated with other materials. This is of particular interest to me because it speaks to how our experience shapes our perceptions.
